About this project
Good Morning to All is a transmedia project that explores the cultural impact of globalization through the celebration of birthdays and the worldwide phenomenon of the song “Happy Birthday to You”.
Combining expert interviews, archival materials, and personal testimonies gathered from diverse countries and cultures, the project extends a feature-length film into a collaborative digital archive, inviting the public to share their own ways of celebrating—or choosing not to celebrate—birthdays.
The habit, the custom, the need, the commerce, each person relates differently to birthday celebrations. For some, birthdays signify growth and adulthood; for others, aging and mortality; and some don’t even know their birth date due to war or displacement. There is no single answer, multiple truths coexist.
To reflect this diversity, an online questionnaire invites people worldwide to share photos, stories, and videos, generating a global field of participation. This material informs the documentary and also feeds an interactive digital platform, where audiences can explore the broader universe of stories beyond the film.
Complementing these two layers, a visual and interactive installation processes the collected data, creating a space for engagement, observation, and shared discovery.
